CINCINNATI, Ohio -- High water levels on the Ohio River means boaters should be especially cautious when setting out over the Fourth of July weekend.

Water levels are up due to recent flooding in West Virginia, according to Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Captain Charles Phillips.

“The Ohio River this weekend is going to be a rough place to be,” Phillips said. “You're going to have to be more vigilant about what you do out here.”

Experts suggest to make sure your boat and boat trailer are properly maintained and to keep a life jacket for everyone on board.
