CINCINNATI -- Cincinnati police charged a suspect with murder in the shooting death of a 20-year-old man Friday night.

Derrell Gover, 21, was charged Monday, according to the police department's Homicide Unit.

The victim, Immanuel Scott, was driven to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, where he died Friday night before police arrived.

Scott's friends told police he was shot on Alaska Avenue. On Saturday, religious leaders pleaded for the community to end violence outside an apartment building where Scott's friends said he was shot.

"We wanted to let the residents of this apartment building, and anyone that can hear us, know that we are here, we really want people to take in consideration it is time to stop the violence," Pastor Ennis Tait said Saturday.

Anyone with information that could assist the homicide investigation is asked to call Cincinnati Police's Criminal Investigation Section at 513-352-3542 or Crimestoppers at 513-352-3040 or text "CINTIP" and your message to CRIMES (274637). Callers can remain anonymous.
