CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden is howling with excitement.
Their African painted dog, Imara, gave birth to 12 puppies last week.
Zoo officials said it is rare for a full litter of African painted dogs to survive, but they are optimistic about this group of pups.
The litter is Imara’s second since January 2015, when she gave birth to a litter of 10.
The newborns are expected to remain behind the scenes for the next several weeks, zoo officials said.
