ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A driver who struck and seriously injured two pedestrians near Riverbend July 27 surrendered himself to police Friday, according to a news release from Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Neill.
Steven Benjamin, 53, faces two felony counts of failing to stop after an accident.
According to deputies, Benjamin hit the two pedestrians as they were walking south on Sutton Road at about 10:53 p.m. There are no sidewalks along the road; he hit the pedestrians with the passenger side mirror.
Two days later, after publicizing the incident in local media, deputies received an anonymous tip linking Benjamin's car to the crash. He told visiting investigators he had been the one behind the wheel that night, according to the release, and turned himself in Friday.
