CINCINNATI — Danny Celenza, Anderson High School junior varsity boys basketball coach, died unexpectedly Thursday morning at Anderson Mercy Hospital, Principal Rob Fellows announced.

“Coach Celenza represented so much of what makes Anderson High School an incredible place for students,” Fellows wrote in an email to school families Thursday. “He was passionate about his work and he was dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of our students. His loss will be felt building-wide and throughout our community.”

Celenza was with Anderson for seven years and previously coached at Cincinnati Christian Schools.

The Forest Hills School District offered additional school counselors, administrators and staff members at the school Thursday. Fellows also encouraged all students to visit the Learning Commons at any time for support.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.

A GoFundMe for Celenza's family can be found here. The campaign had already raised over $50,000 by late Thursday night.

WCPO will update this story as more information becomes available.
