CINCINNATI — Two men have been charged with sex crimes against a 14-year-old girl, according to Hamilton County court documents.

Douglas Shurelds, 47, of Lima, Ohio, allegedly had a sexual relationship with the girl between December 2019 and January 2020, according to court documents.

The victim admitted to police that Shurelds gave her three different cell phones to contact her.

Shurelds, a registered sex offender in Allen County, Ohio, was charged with second-degree unlawful sexual contact with a minor.

Jose Perez Ruiz, 27, of Louisville, Kentucky, allegedly paid the same girl $200 for sex in December and asked her to share nude photographs, according to the incident report. He was charged with third-degree unlawful sexual contact with a minor and compelling prostitution.

Authorities learned of the situation when the 14-year-old had her phone confiscated at school. Based on text messages, they concluded she was engaging in sexual relationships with older men.

Shurelds is being held in the Hamilton County Justice Center on a $100,000 bond, and he is set to appear in court on Feb. 18. Ruiz is being held on a $50,000 bond and will appear in court Feb. 20.
