PIERCE TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- St. Bernadette Church’s fish fry in Pierce Township saw a bigger crowd than usual Friday evening, when public safety officials from across Clermont County attended to provide resources to victims of Wednesday’s tornadoes.

"This is a lot to us out here," said Chief Jeff Bachman of the Pierce Township Fire Department. "We are a small community, and we all want to chip in and help out."

The officials helped answer insurance questions and connect local residents to tornado clean-up resources -- a gesture for which Bruce Penick said he was grateful. The tornado tore through his Lewis Road neighborhood and destroyed much of his yard; the fish fry was an opportunity to get a hot meal and support from other members of his community.

“I knew it before, but the neighbors I have and the people in the Amelia area are great people,” he said.
