GOSHEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio – The township honored Officer Dillon West for rescuing a wheelchair-bound woman stranded in a creek bed for 36 hours.

West heard cries for help about 2:20 a.m. on Sept. 26 while he was conducting a business check on state Route 28 near state Route 132, according to police.

Once West determined the screams were coming from under the bridge on state Route 132, he found Teeya Kirkland in the creek with her wheelchair a short distance away.

West summoned help and Goshen Township EMS took her to the hospital.
