Police: 19-year-old shot his father in self-defense

MONROE, Ohio -- Police believe a 19-year-old who fatally shot his father early Saturday acted in self-defense.

Officers responded to a report of a possible disturbance on Teil Tree Court at about 12:19 a.m. Saturday and found that Colin Bailey had shot 46-year-old Christopher Bailey in a domestic disturbance, police said in a news release.

Christopher Bailey was driven to Atrium Medical Center, where he later died from the gunshot wound, police said.

Based on information police have gathered, they said Thursday that they believe Colin Bailey acted in self-defense and there are no charges pending against him.

Police are still investigating the shooting. The Monroe Police Department will turn their findings over to the Butler County Prosecutor's Office when the and the Warren County Coroner's Office are done with the case.
