MIDDLETOWN, Ohio – Police are searching for the South Lebanon woman they said stole a car, then called a detective and told him she wouldn’t return the car before hanging up.

April Hornsby was with her then-boyfriend, Middletown resident Mike White, when he stopped off to make a payment on his car. When White went inside, Hornsby jumped into the driver’s seat and took off, he said.

White tried calling and texting Hornsby, but she refused to bring the 2001 Buick LeSabre back. So then he went to the police.

Police said Hornsby did return a Middletown detective’s call. He told her to return the car or she’d be charged. Hornsby wouldn’t say where she was, but did say she wouldn’t bring the car back before she hung up, police said.

However, Hornsby by did call White after five days and tell him where the car was, parked outside of a market about 2 miles away.

Police have a warrant for Hornsby’s arrest for unauthorized use of a vehicle. They asked that anyone who knows where she is call Crimestoppers at 513-352-3040.
