HAMILTON, Ohio -- The Butler County Sheriff's Office is investigating after shots were fired at cars in the Lindenwald neighborhood early Sept. 5.

The sounds of three gunshots could be heard on a surveillance video the Butler County Sheriff's Office posted on Facebook.

The unknown shooter shot out a rear driver-side window of a car on Hayes Street with either a BB gun or a small-caliber handgun, Hamilton police said.

Authorities are hoping someone comes forward.

Residents said it's an unusual occurrence in a neighborhood that's normally pretty quiet.

"It's getting too close to home," Terrance Traughtwein said. "Yeah, it's pretty scary if you think about it."

Gail Coleman, who has lived on Hayes Street since 1970, said she's seen a lot change in the neighborhood.

"People used to sit on their front porches, and everybody knew everybody," she said. "But as the years went by, we just got some people who have moved in that's not too good."

Neighbors and police are hoping to get some answers soon.

The Butler County Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation. They asked that anyone with info call them at 513-785-1212.
