UNION, Ky. — Deputies requested the public’s help Tuesday night locating Earl Callen, a 39-year-old man whom family members said experienced a psychotic episode before leaving home Dec. 30.

Boone County Sheriff's Office officials said in a news release they believe Callen is in danger.

According to the release, Callen disappeared into the woods near his Lower River Road home, leaving his cell phone behind. Family members contacted police the following day when he did not return.

Inclement weather and poor visibility in the area forced the sheriff's office to delay its search until Tuesday, when neither tracking nor cadaver dogs were able to locate Callen.

According to the news release, Callen has a chest tattoo of Jesus and a distinctive mole on his left cheek.

Anyone with information about his location should call 911.
