CINCINNATI — Graeter’s is giving away free ice cream cones Thursday to highlight its "Cones for the Cure" partnership with The Cure Starts Now Cancer Research Foundation.

At participating Graeter’s locations from 4-8 p.m., guests can claim one free scoop of Elena’s Blueberry Pie in a sugar cone.

Guests will also able to make donations to the “Cones for the Cure” campaign, which starts Thursday and runs through Sept. 15.

Proceeds from coupon books available in stores also go to the campaign.

The Cure Starts Now is one of the only cancer foundations “dedicated to a ‘homerun’ cure for all cancers” starting first with pediatric brain cancer, according to a release.

In their first “Cones for the Cure” partnership in 2014, the two organizations raised $75,000 for cancer research. Last year, they raised over $166,000, and they hope to raise $180,000 this year.

The ice cream company said the event is the first of two free Elena’s Blueberry Pie cone days, with the other date to be announced.
