OXFORD, Ohio -- It was a miracle on Main Street Saturday. The Hamilton Meijer teamed up with dozens of Scouts, Miami University staff members and students to help deliver Christmas to 160 children in need.

The grocery chain donated $4,000 in gift cards, in addition to the more than $16,000 raised by the university. Every penny went to buy toys for underprivileged children in Butler County. The local children are in the court’s custody and some say they had never received a Christmas present before the program began 21 years ago.

“He had no idea what to do with the gifts because he never had any before,” said Program Chair Anita Sackenheim. “He just kept playing in the bag. He thought that was fun and when they went to leave and the CASA said goodbye he drug everything back in the bag and gave it  back to her and she said ‘Oh no, honey. These are yours to keep.’ He was just shocked and dumbfounded that he got to keep all these gifts.”
