BURLINGTON, Ky. — The victim of a June shooting on Sundance Boulevard has died, according to the Hamilton County Coroner's office.

Michael Holbrook, 46, died Wednesday at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he was transported after the shooting. Holbrook was shot in the neck, according the Boone County Sheriff's office following the shooting.

The suspect, Larry Steven Herald II, was arrested the following day and charged with assault and wanton endangerment. Following his arrest, Herald told deputies the shooting was an accident, according to a news release.

Herald, Holbrook and others were at a party the evening of June 29. The two men had been drinking and arguing in the driveway, the release said. At one point Herald went inside the home and returned with a pistol.

Herald fired a warning shot at the victim and hit him in the face with the weapon before shooting the victim in the neck, investigators said.

Herald is being held in the Boone County Jail.
