NORTH COLLEGE HILL, Ohio -- Police said an 18-year-old senior at North College Hill High School recorded himself having sex with a 14-year-old without her knowledge and then sent the video to his friends.
The video was shared with hundreds of students before the girl's mother found out and brought it to police, authorities said.
Officer Jay Manning and his police K-9, Onil, are trained to keep students at North College Hill High School safe. New technology is making his job harder than ever before, but no one expected a video of a crime to be sent hundreds of time right beneath their noses.
"It's just a shame," he said. "It's a real shame."
Manning said the student sent the video via Snapchat to a group of football players.
Police said they also found 21 other girls on the student's phone. They don't believe the other girls knew they were being filmed, either. They're asking anyone who may have been a victim to come forward for health reasons.
"By the contents of his phone, he did this often," Manning said. "He did this pretty often."
The video was still largely under wraps, until police said a student AirDropped it to hundreds of other students' iPhones. Since the high school shares a wall with the middle school, students as young as sixth-graders may have received the video.
"It's personal because it involves kids, little kids," Manning said. "You know, 13-, 14-, 15-year-old kids."
Police arrested the 18-year-old who recorded the video and said charges are pending. They are waiting on an indictment. Three students who shared the video were also arrested.
"It's a felony," Manning said. "It's a pretty high level felony."
Officers are asking any student who received the video to delete it immediately and tell police.
