LEBANON, Ohio -- A man accused of stealing a car Sunday night in Lebanon crashed the car in Dayton less than an hour later.

Police said 35-year-old Robert Lee Oscar Hayes used a knife to rob a woman shortly before 6 p.m. when she was sitting in her car in front of a Subway restaurant in the Colony Square shopping center on East Main Street in Lebanon, WCPO news partner the Journal-News reported.

Hayes took her car and some cash, and then crashed the car in Dayton, Lebanon police told the Journal-News.

The car stolen out of Lebanon was involved in a crash in the 1000 block of Salem Avenue in Dayton, where the driver of a tan 2004 Chevrolet crashed into a pole, the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center confirmed.

The driver, identified as Hayes by police, was found slumped over the wheel and was taken to Miami Valley Hospital.

Robbery charges are pending against Hayes, Lebanon police said.
