Police identify man shot dead in Mt. Airy on New Year’s Day

CINCINNATI — Authorities have identified the person who was shot dead in Mt. Airy on New Year’s Day, according to Cincinnati police.

A suspect shot Eugene Hafford, 29, at about 2:18 p.m. Wednesday on Bahama Terrace near Felter Park. Hafford was shot in the head, police said.

First responders transported Hafford to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he died.

The shooting was one of three that happened on New Year’s morning in the city; four people were shot in two separate incidents in Over-the-Rhine.

ShotSpotter recorded 168 reports of shots fired in the Price Hill and Avondale areas during New Year’s celebrations.

The Cincinnati Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating the fatal shooting in Mt. Airy. Anyone with information should call 513-352-3542.
