Monroe police investigating attempted murder-suicide

MONROE, Ohio — One man is dead and another man is injured after an attempted murder-suicide in a Monroe subdivision on Monday morning, according to the Monroe Police Department.

Robert Fischer, 76, died Tuesday of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The other man, who was related to Fischer, had been shot multiple times but was conscious when police arrived.

The shooting happened in the 800 block of Riley Lane in the Monroe Crossings subdivision. Police said while the men are related, they did not live in the home together.

Police said there is no threat to the community.

The shooting remains under investigation.
