Mount Healthy police investigate "ethnic intimidation" of daycare

Posted

MOUNT HEALTHY, Ohio -- Police in Mount Healthy are investigating a case involving possible "ethnic intimidation" of a local daycare, according to an incident report filed Thursday.

According to the complaint filed by Sue Ann Dicecco, a Confederate flag sticker had been placed on the rear of a bus for Zakiyya’s II Children’s Learning Center, a daycare that serves predominately black children.

Dicecco was concerned that the sticker had been placed on the bus by someone "attempting to send a message of hate or make a statement."

Originally the charge attached to this incident was vandalism, but police upgraded it to criminal mischief and ethnic initimidation on the advice of Chief Vince Demasi, according to the report.
