ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Butler County deputies arrested two people after investigating a drive-by shooting.

Several rounds were fired into a home on Woodrow Street in St. Clair Township at about 7 p.m. Thursday. Prior to that shooting, New Miami police had responded to a similar incident on Howman Avenue that the Butler County Sheriff's Office said they believe was related.

Detectives charged 28-year-old Hamilton resident Johnathan Lovins with improper discharging a firearm into a habitat. Authorities also arrested 28-year-old Eren Binkley on an outstanding warrant for parole violation.

During the investigation, authorities received a tip that a juvenile had possession of an AK-47 assault rifle. They found the weapon, though they do not believe the 15-year-old was involved in the incidents. The teen has not been charged with a crime.

"We are lucky that no one suffered injuries in either incident and these guys are off the street," Sheriff Richard Jones said.

Deputies asked anyone with information about either incident to report it.
