WALTON, Ky. -- Walton’s mayor minced no words when warning Northern Kentuckians about the deadly and contagious coronavirus in a viral Facebook post.

In his explicit online rant, Mayor Gabe Brown urged citizens to follow official orders to stay home as statewide cases of COVID-19 rise.

“Listen up, dipsh-ts and sensible people. I might not have the best bedside (manner)," a fed-up Brown wrote Monday to the Boone County Neighborhood Group. "I might not put you at ease like the Governor does, but I don’t care. You need to realize this is a serious ordeal. In fact, it’s a big f**king deal. Stay at home.”

On Tuesday, Northern Kentucky Health announced there are 12 positive cases of coronavirus in the region, including nine cases in Kenton County, two in Boone County and one in Campbell County. Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear also confirmed there are 163 positive cases statewide. Earlier this week, Beshear ordered non-essential retail stores closed effective Monday night to stop the spread of the virus.

Brown said he has been on numerous daily calls with government agencies about the response to COVID-19, but he said people also need to "treat this seriously" to stop the spread. He suggested people act as if they already have the virus so as not to pass it to more vulnerable populations.

"I have no doubt that it hasn’t already been here, but testing had been limited. More cases are coming," Brown continued. "If you ignore this problem, the worst thing that could happen is that your mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, aunts, uncles could die."

He capped off his post with a frank, simple warning: "Be responsible. If you don’t, then screw you."
