COLUMBUS, Ohio — As Gov. Mike DeWine and his administration prepare to announce the state’s plan to reopen next week, some teachers are still confused as to whether or not classes will resume before the next school year.

Today’s viewer question for DeWine was sent in by Pattie Trebus, who wanted to hear the governor speak on whether or not Ohio’s schools will begin to reopen on May 1.

Ben Asks a Question is a feature we started as a way to help give you a voice during Gov. Mike DeWine's daily press briefings. Since then, Ben has gotten hundreds of questions a day. DeWine gave a very brief reply, saying a clearer answer will be available next week.

“We’ll have more on that next week,” said DeWine. “I’m on the phone this weekend with some superintendents, having some discussions about that, and so if you can bear with us a couple more days we’ll have some answers early next week about schools, and where we need to be going.”

All schools in Ohio have been closed since March 17 by way of a public health order issued by Ohio Department of Health Director, Dr. Amy Acton.
