Good news for procrastinators who don't have all their holiday shopping done: Monday, Dec. 14, is the biggest sale day of the month of December, and the best time to wrap up that holiday shopping.

Monday is both Green Monday (started by eBay about 10 years ago) and Free Shipping Day, when more than 400 web retailers will offer free shipping with guaranteed Christmas Eve delivery.

Retailers have taken the two shopping holidays and combined them into December's biggest sale day. It's a rare event — the Moon is in the seventh house, Jupiter is aligned with Mars, and it's a great opportunity to finish up your holiday shopping while saving a few bucks.

Why Monday is a great day for online shopping

If you still need to place some online orders, you should try to get those online orders in by Monday evening.

And to make things easier, Amazon, Walmart, Target and many more Plan Green Monday sales.

But just like with Cyber Monday, not all deals are announced in advance.

Deal News.com says you won't find as many bargains as on Black Friday, and in fact there are very few big TV sales (shipping TVs becomes a problem two weeks before Christmas).

However, Green Monday has some of the best sales of the year on toys — including Star Wars toys at Target — and on clothing and shoes.

Be sure to check individual sites like Lands' End and Reebok, which Deal News says offered 40% - 50% off sitewide last year.

Stephanie Sims, trying to keep her kids from crowds, will finish her shopping online on Green Monday.

"I've been doing most of it online, and it's going pretty well," she told us.

If you don't finish your online shopping by Monday, you will probably have to pay extra for shipping starting Tuesday to make sure your package arrives by Christmas Eve.

Keep your eye on the clock, and don't waste your money.
