When it comes to buying Halloween candy, time is running out, and Cincinnati store shelves are clearing out.

We found a lot of people heading into the Hyde Park Kroger, hoping their favorite brands of candy were still available.

The big Halloween candy sales don't officially begin till November 1st, the day after Halloween. But stores hate being stuck with unsold merchandise, so a lot of those sales will start Halloween afternoon.

Last minute price check

If you need bagged candy right now, before the markdowns, we went shopping to find out who has some of the best last minute candy  prices.

Target:  We found 10 ounce snack size bags on sale at 3 for $8,or $2.66 each, if you can still locate them. The Central Cincinnati Target on Marburg Avenue was almost sold out of candy Tuesday afternoon.

Walgreens: We found a much better section at the Hyde Park Walgreens, where we found a  BOGO deal.

Prices have been marked down to small bags for $3.99, with the second bag free, making them $2 each.

Meijer: The Ridge Meijer store had a good selection of small bags priced at 2 for $6, or $3 each.

Walmart: This is a great store for buying candy in bulk.  Walmart has large, 30 pack bags for $4.88, which may be the lowest price on that larger size.

Kroger: If you want small bags, Kroger has just marked down their 10 ounce snack size bags to $1.99, which technically makes their price the lowest in the area, by a penny.

And the winner is....

So our low price winners?

Kroger and Walgreens, both charging $2 (within a penny) for a 10 ounce bag. But at Walgreens, you need to buy 2 bags to get that deal.

And at any store, you may want to hurry, as it is going fast.

That way you don't waste your money.
