NEWPORT, Ky. — Just when your kids were over the “Baby Shark” craze, the Newport Aquarium announced a comeback.

Shark Summer begins this month with a free ticket offer and, here it comes, a baby shark.

A baby epaulette shark, a female, born at the aquarium will be on exhibit for the first time, according to a news release. Guests will also help staff members pick out her name. Maybe just Baby Shark?

For now, she’ll grow up inside the Seahorses gallery and will one day become an ambassador for her species through the WAVE Foundation’s WAVE on Wheels program — an educational program that brings live animals to area schools.

For a limited time during Shark Summer, one child between the ages of 2 and 12 get in free with the purchase of a full-priced adult ticket.

Free ticket offer details:

  • Sundays through Fridays
  • One child per adult after 4 p.m.
  • May 26 to July 21
  • Tickets must be purchased online

Summer hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily between May 25 and Aug. 31.
