CINCINNATI — When Danny Scott opens Energy Nightclub on Saturday night, it will mark both an end and a new beginning for the man known as DJ Sab on KISS 107.
In November, Scott closed Pulse Nightclub, located at 700 Pete Rose Way inside of Longworth Hall, to make way for his new entertainment concept. Scott was DJ at Pulse for five years before buying it from its former owners in 2014.
“I was their resident DJ,” Scott said on Nov. 10, a few days before closing Pulse. "They didn’t really have the time to put into the business, so they basically handed the reins over to me.”
Scott said his decision had nothing to do with business at the club. Revenue was actually up after he took over, he said. The real issue was he didn’t feel he fully owned the place.
“My vision was to bring something new, something bigger,” Scott said.
Scott traveled to places such as Las Vegas to collect ideas for his vision. Thus, Energy Nightclub was born.
“Energy Nightclub will be the closest thing to a Vegas nightclub outside of Vegas,” Scott promised.
Upgrades to the new nightclub include new LED TVs paired with music video technology. A new lighting design features 30 intelligent moving beams and laser effects, with thousands of LED lights synced to music in the main dance floor room. There also will be a new, smaller sitting room where people can drink craft beers such as Rhinegeist.
“It’s a nice setting where you can sit at the bar,” Scott said.
Both rooms and a VIP section will be available for rent, Scott said.
Klub KISS, the radio show that Scott broadcast from Pulse, will resume its weekly Saturday night schedule. Fridays at Energy will be dedicated ladies nights with specials, along with Scott and guest deejays.
Scott is confident visitors to Energy will be impressed, following a soft opening of the club Sunday. Cincinnati Bengal Domata Peko held his birthday party at the club with fellow players, family and friends after the team's win over the St. Louis Rams.
“After the announcement of the grand opening date, Domata reached out to lend support to this local business and friend,” Scott said.
