Listermann/Triple Digit wins silver in Chicago

Posted

CINCINNATI -- Once again, only one Cincinnati brewer walked away with a medal from a premier beer competition.

This past weekend, Listermann Brewing’s high gravity label Triple Digit won a silver medal at the Festival of Wood and Barrel-Aged Beers in Chicago.

Triple Digit won for its high-rated and well-known Chickow! hazelnut brown ale in the Specialty/Experimental category. It was the first time the brewery had entered the festival.

Dozens of brewers from across the globe entered more than 350 beers in the competition.

“People really go crazy for Chickow!. We usually run out of it before the next batch is ready,” Sales Manager Jason Brewer said via a release. “We even have a beer club centered around it where members get variations of it that are not available anywhere else including Irish Cream and Barrel Aged Vanilla.”

The win was particularly exciting for the brewery after medaling at the Great American Beer Festival the year before in Denver.

“It’s very comforting to see the amount of energy and excitement behind craft beer,” Head Brewer Patrick Gilroy said. “Festivals like this always energize us as brewers. Seeing glimpses of the creativity across the country is inspiring and reminds us not to be complacent with our offerings. Medaling among these beers is a great feeling.”

Listermann/Triple Digit is especially proud of their barrel-aged selection and regularly produces limited releases of the sought-after styles for fans.

The brewery will be taking Chickow! on a “victory tour” of several bars on the following dates:

  • Friday – Listermann taproom during Black Friday Bottle release - 8 a.m.
  • Dec. 7 – Brass Tap (Clifton) - 6 p.m.
  • Dec. 9 – Firehouse Grill - 6 p.m.
  • Dec. 14 - Cappy’s Wine and Spirits - 4 p.m.
  • Dec. 16 - Lucky Dog - 6 p.m.

For those beer fans truly dedicated to Chickow!, there is even a special club called the “League of Extraordinary Chickow!s.”
