NEWPORT, Kentucky -- Arnie's on the Levee is no more.

After nearly a decade in business, Arnie's owner Bill Head told community website Fort Thomas Matters he decided not to renew his lease of the property at 120 E. Third St. in Newport.

The bar's lease agreement expired at the end of October.

"It was a good run," he said. "Ten years is a good life for the concept that we were going after."

Head told Fort Thomas Matters he has no immediate plans to relocate Arnie's or open a new bar.

Arnie's offered a little of everything within its 3,000 square feet. The bar served as a nightclub with a stage for DJs and bands Thursday through Saturday nights. It also had 13 flat-screen televisions, two bars, booths, tables and outdoor patio seating, as well as a menu featuring hamburgers, wings, salads, draft beer and mixed drinks.

Arnie's is the second restaurant to close in Newport's riverfront entertainment district within the last month. Nashville-based restaurant chain Dick's Last Resort, located across Third Street from Arnie's, abruptly closed its Newport on the Levee location in late October.

There have been no announcements for businesses that might occupy either space.
