This Week's Find: Elusive Cow Cafe
Why we love it: Located in the Historic Fairfield District of Bellevue, the Elusive Cow Cafe (perhaps named after the cow that escaped a slaughterhouse in 2002 and evaded authorities for 11 days?) has a nice mix of entrees, appetizers and a build-your-own burger that lets you choose between turkey, beef or bison. This time we chose a beef burger on a French roll with Havarti dill cheese (try it no matter what burger you get -- it added a surprisingly tasty zip) and a side of hand-cut fries ($10.75). For those looking for a healthier option, we tried the grilled chicken sandwich on a gluten-free bun (for someone who generally avoids carbs despite her love of them, this bun hit the spot!) with roasted zucchini and squash that was crisp and well seasoned ($9.75). We washed it all down with a coke and iced tea ($1.75 each), bringing our total to $25.44. We loved the quaint vibe of the restaurant, which also offers a selection of craft beer and wine. And for the hipsters out there: A Red Bike stop is located just across the street!
