UNION, Ky. — The Boone County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday ended its two-day search for 39-year-old Earl Callen, who remains officially missing and in danger.

Family members said Callen left his Lower River Road home and ventured into the nearby woods Dec. 30 after a mental health episode. Because he frequently spent time in the woods, they did not contact police until the following day, when he had not returned or attempted to contact him.

Crews including tracking dogs, cadaver dogs and representatives of 21 emergency response agencies began searching the area around the home and sweeping the Ohio River Jan. 1.

Their efforts were unsuccessful.

According to the news release, Callen has a chest tattoo of Jesus and a distinctive mole on his left cheek.

Anyone who sees him or has information about his whereabouts should call 911.
