CINCINNATI -- Thursday is an absolutely gorgeous day here in the Tri-State: High temperatures soared into the upper 60s and low 70s. CVG hit a high of 70 degrees, which is nearly 20 degrees above average for this time of year!

I hope you took advantage of the warmth, because we are finished with it for at least the next seven days.

Last night, a strong cold front moved through the Tri-State. Before many of you woke up, we actually had snow showers northeast of Cincinnati. This front has brought in a 30 degree temperature drop from yesterday’s high of 70, to today’s forecast high of 40.

This is just the beginning, folks! It’s about to get even colder, and that could play an important role in your weekend plans.

Let’s begin with Saturday’s St. Patrick’s Day parade here in downtown Cincinnati at the Banks. As you search to find your spot in the morning, between 9 and 10 a.m., temperatures will hover around 26 degrees, with wind chills falling into the teens. The parade begins at noon near Paul Brown Stadium; by that point, temperatures will rise to around 31 degrees. Wind chills at noon with hover in the 20s. By the end of the parade, look for temperatures to reach the mid-30s with wind chills in the 20s.

I expect mostly cloudy skies with some sunshine mixed in at times with a storm system passing to our south. Make sure you and the family are bundled up! But the parade will not be canceled due to weather, so go and have fun.

Sunday, the 2017 Heart Mini is expecting to draw tens of thousands of people to downtown. Unfortunately, that is when I expect the cold to be at its coldest.

Sunday morning low temperatures will bottom out in the upper teens; wind chills will fall closer to 10 degrees. The half marathon and 15K begin at 7:30 a.m. At that time, temperatures will be near 20. By 10 a.m., temperatures will climb a few degrees but still be very cold, in the upper 20s. By the early afternoon events, expect temperatures to reach the mid-30s.

No rain or snow is expected for the races -- you just have to be prepared for the bone-chilling cold!
