WILMINGTON, Ohio -- A tornado caused damage in Pike County as storms swept through the region Wednesday, the National Weather Service said Friday.

Meteorologists also investigated damage in neighboring Adams County, but found there had been no tornado there. However, straight-line winds reached speeds of 80-90 mph and destroyed a barn on Unity Road.

Investigators were still working to determine the EF scale for the tornado in Pike County.

Tornadoes also hit in Anderson Township, Amelia, near Leesburg, Greenfield and New Market Wednesday, the NWS previously announced.
