CINCINNATI -- Thousands of people lost power Saturday afternoon, all around Greater Cincinnati.

As of 9:30 a.m., about 2,000 Duke Energy customers were without power. That was down from a high of nearly 30,000 customers who lost power Saturday afternoon.

Duke spokeswoman Sally Thelen said the outages were primarily because of strong wind. Some Northern Kentucky residents were impacted, but not as extensively as areas in Ohio.

Thelen called the outages an "all hands on deck" situation for Duke crews. She said technicians would be working through the night to try to get power restored.

"We’ve reached out to our contractors who wouldn't be in on the weekends," Thelen said."We’re bringing in all available resources. Even anybody on vacation, we’re requesting that they come in.”

Call 911 if you encounter any downed power lines.
