Lytle Tunnel closing for overnight roadwork this weekend

CINCINNATI — Road work in the Lytle Tunnel this weekend requires overnight road closures on Interstate 71, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Northbound I-71 will be closed at the I-71/75 split from 10 p.m. Friday until 9 a.m. Saturday. Traffic will be diverted north up I-75 to the Norwood Lateral. Fort Washington Way will remain open for eastbound U.S. 50 traffic, but there will be no access to the Lytle Tunnel.

The Fourth Street entrance ramp to I-71 north in Covington and the Second Street entrance ramp to I-71 north in Cincinnati will also be closed.

Southbound I-71 will be closed at Exit 2 (U.S. 42 Gilbert Ave./Eighth Street and Reading Road) from 10 p.m. Saturday until 9 a.m. Sunday. Traffic will be diverted onto I-471 to I-275. Officials also said drivers can use the Norwood Lateral.

The U.S. 42/Eden Park Drive entrance ramp to I-71 south and the Third Street ramp to I-71 south will also be closed.
