A fatal head-on crash shut down Ronald Reagan Highway in both directions for nearly four hours Tuesday evening, forcing traffic to a standstill.

An aerial view of the scene around 5 p.m. showed two vehicles — a gray sedan and a blue SUV — with heavy front-end damage sitting in the grass on the side of the road. According to 911 callers, one of the vehicles crossed the center line and struck the other head-on.

“They’re both just — it’s bad,” one caller said. “I just saw both cars go flying across.”

At least two people were transported from the scene. The Colerain Township Police Department wrote on Facebook hours later that one of the victims had died but did not disclose their identity pending notification of their next-of-kin.
