One person killed in Spring Grove Village crash, CPD officer injured

CINCINNATI — One driver died after a crash Sunday afternoon in Spring Grove Village, according to a release from the Cincinnati Fire Department.

Christopher McCoy, 48, was trapped in his car after he and another vehicle crashed near the intersection of Estes and Chickering Avenue Sunday around 2:30 p.m.

When emergency units arrived on scene, a Cincinnati police officer broke out a car window in order to get McCoy out of his vehicle.

McCoy and the driver of the other vehicle were transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, but McCoy died in the emergency room, according to the report from CFD.

The other driver is in critical condition, and the CPD officer who broke out the window to McCoy's car had minor injuries from the incident.

The crash is under investigation by the Cincinnati Police Department.
