Why do you participate in the Flying Pig?

Why do you participate in the Flying Pig?
Posted

Thousands of people train for months to participate in the Flying Pig Marathon and Half-Marathon each year in Cincinnati.

For many, the dedication it takes to complete the race can be transformative, and everyone has a reason for why they sacrifice so much time and push their bodies to participate.

WCPO wants to know: What motivates you to run or walk the Pig? Please fill out the form below and share your story.

We're also looking for people to participate in a related audio project. If you're interested, please call 513-852-4122 and leave a voicemail message about why you run or walk the Pig. (Please keep it under 60 seconds.) After a brief pause, please tell us:

  • Your name
  • Your neighborhood
  • The number of Flying Pigs you've completed (specify full or half)
  • What drives you to run or walk the Pig?
  • Your telephone number (we won't publish your number; we'll use it only to contact to follow up for the story.)

Example: My name is Brian Mains, from Covington. I'm running my sixth Flying Pig marathon this year. I ran my first Pig in 2011 before I turned 35 because I wanted to lose weight and prove to myself that I could. I continue to run the Pig because the months of training remind me how small steps and dedication can lead to bigger things. I have also met some of the best people and friends to run with along the way. My number is 513-000-0000.
