GREEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Hall of Fame shortstop Ozzie Smith will be the featured guest at the La Salle High School Sports Stag Jan. 17.
“I’m very excited to continue the long-standing tradition of having National Baseball Hall of Fame members as our featured guest at the La Salle Sports Stag,” said Barrett Cohen, La Salle's director of alumni relations. “Ozzie Smith redefined the shortstop position in his nearly two-decade career with the Padres and the Cardinals. We are thrilled to bring him to the campus of La Salle High School.”
Smith, inducted into Cooperstown in 2002, was a 13-time Gold Glove Award winner. Known as the "Wizard of Oz," Smith is the latest of a long line of baseball greats who've appeared at the school over the years. January will mark the 33rd annual stag.
