Ohio State's Kelsey Mitchell named to AP Preseason All-America team

Ohio State junior guard Kelsey Mitchell was named an Associated Press Preseason All-America basketball selection Thursday afternoon.

Mitchell, a 2014 Princeton High School graduate, was a consensus first All-American selection her sophomore season.

Mitchell was selected as the Big Ten’s Preseason Player of the Year last week.

Mitchell enters this seasonninth on the OSU career scoring chart with 1,762 points. She is on pace to not only shatter the school record but also set the NCAA career scoring record.

Mitchell and the Buckeyes host Ashland in an exhibition game Sunday at Value City Arena.

Ohio State opens the regular season Nov. 11 against Duquesne at St. John Arena.

Mitchell won Ohio Ms. Basketball honors her senior season at Princeton when the Vikings won the Division I state title. She was named a McDonald’s All-American and Gatorade Ohio player of the year in 2014.
