LaSalle wins sectional title

WEST CHESTER TOWNSHIP, Ohio - The LaSalle basketball team rallied from a halftime deficit to defeat Elder 49-44 in a Division I sectional final Saturday night at Lakota West.

The Lancers advance to play Centerville (15-10) in a district final at 7 p.m. March 5 at Wright State University’s Nutter Center.

LaSalle junior guard CJ Fleming (Bellarmine verbal commit) had a game-high 21 points to lead the Lancers (21-3).

LaSalle, Elder and Moeller tied for the Greater Catholic League South division crown during the regular season.

LaSalle trailed 13-8 at the end of the first quarter and 23-22 at halftime. Senior guard Jeremy Larkin’s jumper early in the third quarter gave the Lancers a 25-24 lead. It was the first lead for La Salle since 2-0.

Elder (19-5) was led by senior forward Ryan Custer (Wright State signee) who had 15 points and five rebounds.

Other district finals next Saturday include Wilmington vs. Mason, 1 p.m.; Lakota East vs. Huber Heights Wayne, 3 p.m.; and Moeller vs. Springfield, 9 p.m. All those games are at Wright State, too.
