Fairfield standout offensive tackle Jack Carman to announce college decision in December

CINCINNATI -- Fairfield senior offensive tackle Jack Carman is expected to announce his college decision in December, Fairfield coach Jason Krause told WCPO.com.

The 6-foot-7, 345-pound Carman, ranked the nation’s No. 1 offensive tackle by 247Sports, is expected to name his top five schools in early August, Krause said.

Fairfield (7-4 in 2016), which has two straight postseason appearances, opens the season Aug. 25 against visiting Centerville (5-5) at 7 p.m. at Fairfield Stadium as part of the 20th annual Skyline Chili Crosstown Showdown.

Carman, a five-star recruit, participated in Nike’s The Opening last week. He has over 40 scholarship offers including Ohio State, Clemson, Alabama, USC, LSU, Tennessee, Florida, Florida State, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Florida State, Michigan, Wisconsin, UC and several others.

Carman, who is committed to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, is rated the nation’s No. 13 player overall in the 2018 class by Rivals.com and No. 15 overall by 247Sports. He won the Anthony Muñoz Foundation Division I area Offensive Linemen of the Year Awardin January.

The NCAA Collegiate Commissioners Association approved a 72-hour football early signing period starting Dec. 20. That is in addition to the traditional February signing date.
