FAIRFIELD, Ohio - Fairfield senior cornerback Josiah Scott announced his verbal commitment to Michigan State on Sunday night in a ceremony at Fairfield Stadium.
Scott had 20 scholarship offers during the recruiting process. The Spartans offered him the week of July 11. He also had offers that included Iowa, West Virginia, Pitt, UC and several others.
A second-team all-district and first-team all-Greater Miami Conference selection in 2015, Scott had 34 tackles, two sacks and 15 pass breakups last season. He is one of the area's top players in the 2017 class.
He has nine interceptions the past two seasons.
Fairfield opens the season at Centerville Aug. 26. Official OHSAA practice begins Monday.
