MASON, Ohio -- Aiken senior point guard Carlik Jones scored a single-game school record 57 points in the Falcons’ 115-89 win over Hughes in a Division II sectional final tonight at Mason.
Jones, who is signed with Radford, also had eight rebounds and eight assists.
“He was locked in from the start of the game,” Aiken coach Leon Ellison said. “He actually could have done more. He got his teammates involved.”
Jones set the scoring mark tonight, according to the Aiken athletic department. Lonnie Berry Sr. held the previous school scoring record with 45 points in 1996.
Aiken (21-3) advances to play Urbana in a Division II district final March 6 at UD Arena.
Jones, who was named the District 16 Coaches Association Division II player of the year earlier this week, was selected to the Ohio North-South Game April 22 at Otterbein.
