Scott County rushed for 437 of its 482 yards of offense in a 42-33 win over Highlands on Friday.

The Bluebirds were down just one at halftime and took the lead early in the third quarter, 27-21 on a 34-yard TD catch by Nick Veneman from Brady Gosney.

But Scott County ran off the next three touchdowns to pull away for good. The Cardinals had built a 15-point lead in the first quarter but Highlands battled back.

Kendrick Hamilton rushed for 204 yards and three touchdowns, and Brice Fryman added 103 ground yards to pace the Cardinals.

Gosney was 21-for-35 for 325 yards and four touchdowns, and Veneman caught nine passes for 225 yards and four scores in the losing effort for Highlands.

The Bluebirds will travel to Union to face Ryle next week while Scott County hosts Elder.
