TriStateFootball.com has partnered with WCPO 9 On Your Side to present the High School Football Player of the Week for the 2016 regular season. Players will be nominated from the Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and southeastern Indiana areas.
Each week, between 12 and 15 nominees will be selected from a large list of some of the area’s top performances and will be included in an online voting poll to determine a winner.
The voting is open from now until 6 p.m. ET Wednesday; voters can vote once per hour, per IP address.
Once a player wins, they will be ineligible to be nominated a second time. All of the season winners will be recognized and receive a plaque at the TriStateFootball.com Year in Review Show in February (more details announced during postseason).
Here are this week’s nominations (vote below):
Bryce Ashley, Ryle, WR - Ashley had seven receptions for 174 yards, including touchdowns of 54 and 66 yards in the first quarter of the Raiders' conquest of Conner.
Ra’Von Bonner, Sycamore, RB - The senior became Sycamore’s all-time leading after running for 222 yards, catching three passes for 88 more yards and scoring five touchdowns (four rushing, one receiving) as the Aviators pummeled Princeton.
Eddie Driskell, Edgewood, WR - The Cougar wideout hauled in seven receptions for 163 yards and a touchdown as the Cougars crushed Talawanda.
TJ Gelter, New Richmond, RB - He ran for 183 yards, had three rushing touchdowns and a score on a 38-yards catch in the Lions’ victory over Amelia.
Anthony Harrison, St. Bernard, QB - Harrison completed all five of his passes for 75 yards, ran the ball 11 times for 186 yards and accounted for five touchdowns (four rushing, one passing) in a win over Riverview East.
Andrew Marty, Wyoming, QB - The Wyoming signal caller went 11-of-14 for 246 yards and five touchdowns all in the first half of the Cowboys’ rout of Finneytown.
AJ Mayer, Covington Catholic, QB - He carried the ball 16 times for 168 yards with four rushing touchdowns, 93 passing yards and a one scoring toss as CovCath beat Highlands for the first time since 2006.
Scott Pettyjohn, Walton-Verona, QB - The Bearcat dual-threat QB ran the ball five times for 115 yards, went 4-of-4 with 75 yards passing and accounted for five touchdowns (three rushing, two passing) as the Bearcats triumphed over Trimble County.
Kyle Montag, Oak Hills, RB - Amassed 253 all-purpose yards including 164 rushing and found the end zone four times (three rushing, one receiving) in Oak Hills victory over Hamilton.
Raequan Prince, Winton Woods, QB - The backup quarterback racked up 137 yards of total offense, ran for a touchdown and threw for another as the Warriors upset Elder.
Donzell Tuggle, Withrow, LB - Tuggle had a key 82-yard interception return for a touchdown as the Tigers took down Milford in overtime.
Luke Waddell, Loveland, RB - The senior carried the ball eight times for 176 yards and a three touchdowns as the Tigers trounced Glen Este.
