HS Football: Rankings entering Week 5

CINCINNATI -- As we near the halfway point of the 2015 high school football season, the gap is beginning to widen between the contenders and the pretenders across the Tri-state area.

That is evident when you take a glance at the latest TriStateFootball.com Team Rankings. Here's how things are shaking out as we enter Week 5 of the season:

Ohio DI
Fairfield is on the move once again, moving up to the fourth spot after they go 4-0 with a win over Sycamore to start their conference slate. There is sure to be more movement in the rankings next week as Friday night features three tilts pairing Top 10 squads, including St. Xavier vs. Moeller, Fairfield vs. Mason and Elder vs. Centerville. Another affair has third-ranked Wayne up against Division II-III No. 2 Miamisburg. Full rankings here.

Ohio DII-DIII
Five of last week's Top 10 teams remain unbeaten, including early season underdog Turpin. The Spartans knocked off Kings, who fell three spots down to No. 7 in the latest poll. Three squads in the rankings suffered their first loss of 2015 last time Friday night -- Kings, Trotwood-Madison and Butler. The top four schools in this week’s rankings will have their hands full this Friday evening with some very tough matchups on tap. Full rankings here.

Ohio DIV-DVII
For the second straight week, Bishop Fenwick will play a tough small-school matchup under Friday night lights. The Falcons knocked off Alter last Friday, catapulting them to No. 2 in our latest rankings and now they’ll try to take down top-ranked Badin in one of this week’s top games. Indian Hill moved up to sixth in this week’s rankings by moving to 4-0 with a win over previously unbeaten Wyoming last week. Full rankings here.

Northern Kentucky
Covington Catholic moved up two spots to No. 4 in Northern Kentucky after knocking off Beechwood to grab its first win of the season. Conner maintained its spot in the Top 8 after its second straight one-point win as they beat Dixie Heights. Life doesn’t get any easier for Highlands, who travels to top-ranked Simon Kenton this Friday to take on the top-ranked Pioneers. Full rankings here.
