COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio - The boy with cancer who was feted by Reds star Joey Votto this week got another treat Friday before the St. Xavier-Colerain football game.
Six-year-old Walter Herbert, nicknamed Superbubz, was invited into the Colerain locker room by coach Tom Bolden and got to lead the Cardinals onto the field. Walter is fighting stage 4 neuroblastoma.
After Votto hit a home run Thursday’s against the Mets, the Reds star high-fived Walter behind home plate and gave the youngster his bat and jersey.

Chive Charities, an organization dedicated to helping individuals with rare medical conditions, helped the Herbert family meet Votto in the Reds clubhouse last week.
Walter also got a chance to practice with FC Cincinnati.
The Herbert family hopes it can help more children like Walter by raising money to make September Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month. They will hold a fundraiser to support that cause at the Public House Sept. 16 in Cheviot, Ohio.
