CINCINNATI -- Bengals running back Gio Bernard is out for the year after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, coach Marvin Lewis confirmed Monday afternoon.
Bernard will undergo surgery, Lewis said.
The team had better news about star receiver A.J. Green. Green suffered a strained - not torn - hamstring and could return before the end of the season. But Green definitely will miss next Sunday's game in Baltimore, Lewis said.
Six games remain and the Bengals remain mathematically alive, but WCPO contributor John Fay argues the season ended with this "ugly, ugly 16-12 loss" to the Buffalo Bills at Paul Brown Stadium.
