Cincinnati Bengals open preseason Friday with game against Tampa Bay Buccaneers

CINCINNATI -- Football season is upon us! The Cincinnati Bengals open the preseason with back-to-back home games, including a 7:30 p.m. Friday opener at against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and a 7 p.m. Aug. 19 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Cincinnati will play a nationally televised (Fox) road game on Aug. 27 at Washington, marking the eighth time in the last eight years for the Bengals to be selected by the league's broadcast partners for a national game. The Bengals' other road game will be a Thursday night finale in Indianapolis against the Colts. The Buccaneers, Chiefs and Colts games will be televised by the Bengals Preseason TV Network.

Single-game preseason tickets are now available for the Bengals two home games starting at $25. Fans may purchase tickets by calling the Bengals Ticket Hotline at 513-621-8383 or toll-free at 866-621-8383, online at Bengals.com or by visiting the Paul Brown Stadium ticket office. The ticket hotline and ticket office hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Though dates and kickoff times for the Bengals' regular season schedule are yet to be announced, the list of home and road opponents has been set. The regular season home schedule features AFC North Division rivals Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers, along with the Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts.

Season Tickets start at $400 and flexible payment plan options are available.

City Traffic Engineer Dennis Lechlak reminds fans that traffic is restricted around Paul Brown Stadium on a typical game day starting about 3 to 4 hours before the game to handle pedestrian crowds. Check the list below. 

Pregame: These roads will close 3 to 4 hours before a game and, unless listed on the postgame list, will be reopened when the game begins:

  • Elm Street - closed between Second Street and Mehring Way
  • Freedom Way - closed between Elm Street and Race Street
  • Freedom Way - closed between Joe Nuxhall Way and Marian Spencer Way (for the Bengal Tailgate Zone)
  • Race Street - closed south of Second Street
  • Rosa Parks Street - closed between Second Street and Freedom Way
  • Marian Spencer Way - restricted to local traffic between Second Street and Freedom Way
  • Joe Nuxhall Way - closed between Second Street and Mehring Way

Postgame: Roads are closed after the game to accommodate traffic leaving the parking lots. These roads will close around the third quarter and remain closed until traffic has cleared the area:

  • Central Avenue - closed between West Pete Rose Way and Mehring Way
  • Central Avenue - southbound only closed between Seventh Street and Fourth Street
  • Elm Street - closed between Second Street and Mehring Way
  • Race Street - southbound closed between Second Street and Freedom Way
  • Freedom Way - closed between Rosa Parks Street and Elm Street
  • Joe Nuxhall Way - southbound closed between Second St and Mehring Way
  • Mehring Way - closed to westbound through traffic at Johnny Bench Way
  • Gest Street - southbound closed between Third Street and Mehring Way
  • Third Street - eastbound closed between Clay Wade Bailey Bridge and Central Avenue
  • Fourth Street - closed between Elm Street and Plum Street
  • W. Pete Rose Way - eastbound closed between Gest St. and Central Avenue
  • NO LEFT TURN from Third Street or Sixth Street to southbound Central Avenue
